Sorry to see this happen, in a selfish way I wanted to get to at least 500,000 points but this may not ever happen now.

Life and work often get in the road of what you may want to do, having a project to play with would be good and a lot of fun, but also a little work, so you need to find the time to play with it.

If you can't find the time well thank you for trying and keeping it going as long as you have.

You may find in the near future that you can use this platform for same or another altogether different project, that would be good, and maybe fun as well.

You too Veronika have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

All the best

Welcome Veronika,
Glad to hear that you are taking over the project.
Work is flowing nicely, however the Transitioner Backlog has now passed 40 hours and results are not being validated.

When your ready could you have a look at this please.

Thanks again for restarting the project.

Hi everyone. It took a bit to get up and running. On one hand, it is easy to move around the single-board computer server. On the other, there are more wires that need to be in place.
I am Veronika and Tomas and I graduated about two weeks ago (with A's:). Yes, we have met in this school and I was also interested in boinc and computer science. During the senior year, there was a lot of work to do on Thesis and subjects. Now that the effort is over, it was time to move on, and I decided to take over the project, instead of letting it go forgotten. Not sure about what exactly it is going to used for, but it looks like the apps here are in working condition. So I could re-start the prime tuples subproject. And I vouch to keep the forums and result repository available. I have the end-point from the last time the project was running, but Natalia will have to tell me how far they have gone.
My interests are more about the scheduler, modernizing it and testing new things, but that is not yet ready to go public. At the end of the summer I will have to move again, most likely, but before that, we can still do something exciting.

Thanks Tomas,

Just for fun I selected the two badges available to me and I get the following error

Unable to handle request
missing or bad parameter: pm_notification; supplied:

So I can select them but I can't get them.

Thanks

There is no Symmetric Prime Tuples work at the moment, probably there will be later.
There is work for PADLS on the server, so if your preferences allow work for that then you can get some, I just did.

All my recent PADLS work units have been granted zero credit.

Success and validated but no points.

Just wondering why.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

G'Day Tomas,

Just wondering how you are going and what the future of the project is.

If differences can't be resolved with Ms Makarova, can a different source be found to supply work.
It does not even have to be mathematics, it could be anything really, but there are heaps of Maths problems out there that I am sure need some help.

Perhaps some University needs a bit of extra help?

Anyway, hope all is well and catch you when you are older (ha,ha)

1. you will process the results of the current experiment PADLS rule 38 and publish the database of your project;
2. you assign all credits in accordance with your assimilator;
3. you change the credit accrual rule so that it is not associated with the end of the batch.

I have hard time understanding the reason behind these requirements. I find them strange.

G'Day Tomas and Natalia,

I would like to thank you both for the project, Tomas for setting it up and Natalia for the data sets (I think this is how the setup works?).

From my perspective as a volunteer for this project, I have seen a lot of misunderstandings being sent back and forth on how the project is run.

With point 1 above, I understood this to already be working and complied with
With point 2 above, Tomas has already posted this is how he will grant credits, when the results are assimilated.
Due to point 2 there is no need for point 3.

Please Natalia don't get hung up about the credits, we will get them, this is not the only project to delay when points are granted to volunteers (climate prediction is a good example and any project with very long deadlines (months))

If the problem is about when the next experiment might start or waiting till an experiment ends, might I suggest this approach
When an experiment is at 80% complete, Natalia sends the new source or sources for Tomas to compile into the next experiment / experiments, so that as one experiment ends then the new one can start, constant work flow is then the result.

The new experiment can be started even as the previous experiment is ending.

Multiple experiments should be able to run at the same time if necessary and even selected from a users account.
Or experiments combined into one and then run, but as stated by Tomas, work unit length becomes a problem.

Please we all need to get along for anything to work.

Google translator can sometimes come across with the wrong intention by making a request appear as a demand.

I have probably simplified things way too much, but this is how I see it.

Things don't need to be complicated.

Have a good day everyone, things will work out, just take things one at a time and we all can be happy.

Thanks
Conan

The title of this thread and the main news item on the front page says this is Rule 38 as the new work units, however rule 38 does not exist in my account, but Rule 58 does, all the work units I have received are Rule 58.
Has there been a typo and the wrong number written down?

Thanks for the response Thomas,
It is not so much that the distribution can't be updated but that I am using Fedora 21, Fedora is up to release 30 now.
I mainly just do BOINC on the Linux computers and I manually installed BOINC-Client and Manager, in the way it used to be installed many years ago.
I find that it is now harder to install in this manner with the distribution release version (I had another computer running before that I could only get Boinc to work via the distribution release, it was Fedora 25, manually did not work)

So I don't do boinc updates through the distribution (which does support that function), I manually update only when I really need to, such as when HTTPS started and I had trouble getting that to work on the older distribution and BOINC versions I was using.

Thanks again

I'm sorry but I will have to give this project a miss.

I have tried for a few hours to get the required files installed (I am only missing the libboinc_api.so.7 and libncursesw6), but I am unable to get just the single file libboinc_api.so.7 as it is always included in a package to install Boinc-Client on my computer, this I don't want as I have Boinc-Client already installed and not from the package manager of my distribution, as i do it manually, so I don't want to muck up my set up.
The libncurses files are just painful, as I did locate a version 6 (I have 5), but it wanted me to make and install, which I am not comfortable doing.
So tried another download that just need to be extracted but it would not install without something or other.
Then located some RPM packages, but they would not install as one RPM package needed another dependency which when I located that dependency, needed another dependency which was already in the dependency that would not install.
So I gave up.

Don't know why this project needs so many new files when the other similar projects do not.
I have no trouble at Rakesearch, ODLK or Latinsquares, but total failure here.

Good luck with your project, I may try again in the future but I wont hold my breath.

Conan
